On June 19, 2020, the National Emergency Committee (COE) resolved that until July 6, 2020, domestic travelers must have COVID tests carried out at the place of origin for flights between the cities of Quito and Guayaquil. The resolution states:
- Passengers with a negative PCR or quantitative test carried out in authorized laboratories up to 72 hours prior to boarding will be allowed to travel on the abovementioned flights.
- Those who do not have these tests can undergo rapid tests in authorized laboratories or at authorized points in airports up to 24 hours before the date and time of the flight. If the test is IgM positive, the person will not be allowed to board until a PCR test is performed for confirmation.
- This requirement will remain in effect until July 6, 2020. After that date, testing will be performed at random at the airport of origin.
- The concessionaires of Quito and Guayaquil Airports will coordinate control and testing with the health and municipal authorities.
Those who were in mandatory preventive isolation do not require a negative PCR test for domestic flights. The certificate of completion of isolation issued by the Ministry of Public Health will be the enabling document to board the flight.
