Personal Data Protection
María Mercedes focuses her practice on Personal Data Protection. Over the course of her career, she has advised several national and international companies, as well as the most important corporate groups operating in Ecuador, on compliance with the Law for Personal Data Protection. She specializes in sector-specific regulations, particularly in the health, insurance, and financial sectors.
She has led processes to implement and adapt regulations to business procedures by sector, conducting risk analysis, impact assessments, drafting contracts and developing policies tailored to the needs of the business. In addition, she has advised on the application of security measures in databases, ensuring national and international regulatory compliance.
Additionally, she manages general procedures for handling requests for exercising rights and disciplinary procedures before administrative authorities.
